African Drums

Different peoples in different parts of the world have different musical instruments especially, percussion drums, that are very peculiar to them. Africans are not exception to this. In africa there are alot of percussion drums one of which is the Djembe drum.

Djembe drum is a skin-covered hand drum shaped like a large goblet and meant to be played with bare hands.

Djembe is a name that originates from the Bamana people in Mali which means "everyone gather together" and defines the drum's purpose.

Djembe drums are commonly about 12" (30 cm) in diameter and 24" (60 cm) in height, varying a few inches. They can also be found in many smaller sizes, from 5" (13 cm) to 18" (46 cm) in diameter.
As a result of the goblet shape, the density of the wood, the internal carvings, and the skin, there is a wide range of tones that can be produced by the djembe drum.
The rounded shape with the extended tube of the djembe body forms a device that gives the djembe drum it its deep bass note.

Djembe drums and other african instruments are sold in different musical instument shops around the world.
